We welcome and encourage our families and community members to be part of our students' school experience. Volunteers help make picture day, field trips, Art Vistas, Open Garden Wednesdays, classroom reading, lunchtime and after-school clubs, Home & School Club events and more possible.

Every Volunteer Needs These Four Things

1. Moreland Volunteer Form — Complete the Volunteer Form online.
2. Mandated reporter training — Complete the training online (details below).
3. TB test or waiver — On file with the Latimer office (details below).
4. Valid ID or passport — Bring it each time you check in at the front office.

Some volunteer roles also require fingerprinting. See below to find out whether yours does.

Do I Need Fingerprinting?

Yes, if you plan to:

• Chaperone any field trip - day trip or overnight
• Help with or lead a lunchtime or after-school club
• Work with students without a teacher present, even briefly

No, if you plan to:

• Read with students in your child's classroom
• Help with a monthly Art Vista lesson
• Volunteer in the copy center
• Serve as a room parent
• Help at a school event with staff present

Fingerprinting

Sign up through the Moreland Volunteer Fingerprint Form.

• One-time cost is $55
• Bring exact change or a check - credit cards are not accepted
• Bring a valid California ID or passport
• If you have previously been fingerprinted as a volunteer for Moreland, you do not need to do it again; the Moreland School District HR department will verify your fingerprint status if requested
• You may begin volunteering once Moreland Human Resources has your clearance

Mandated Reporter Training

This training is completed online and is required for all volunteers.

• Watch for an email from the ASCIP E-Learning Team. It will not come from a Moreland School District address, so please check your spam or junk folder.
• The registration link is active for 24 hours and one click only, and cannot be shared.
• If your link expires, go to ascip-elearn.org and click the navy blue "Password Reset and Welcome Email Help" button.

TB Test or Waiver

A TB test or waiver is required for everyone volunteering during the school day, including field trips and Home & School Club events.

How to meet this requirement:

• Turn in results from a TB test taken within the last 60 days, or
• Turn in a TB Risk Assessment waiver completed by a medical provider. Pages 1 and 3 must be returned to the front office.

 TB tests and waivers are generally good for four years, though your medical provider may have additional requirements. We recommend keeping a copy of your records and noting when a new one will be due.

Where to get tested:
A list of local TB testing sites is available on the Santa Clara County Office of Education website. Many are walk-in and low- or no-cost. Moreland typically holds an annual TB clinic each October — information will be sent out as it becomes available, including signup times, location, cost, and more.
