About Latimer

Welcome to Latimer School, one of seven schools in the Moreland School District. Latimer reopened as a neighborhood school in August 2014, after undergoing a complete renovation, and we currently serve 450 TK – 7th grade students.  Renovation will continue this summer and during the 2017/2018 school year as we build locker rooms, a music building, and an 8 classroom Middle School Building.   We will add eighth grade this August and expect our enrollment to grow by approximately 100 students.

School Vision Statement  Latimer School will provide an exemplary educational experience for children in a caring, innovative learning environment where all members of the school community engage fully, collaborate productively, communicate effectively, and think critically and creatively.

Instructional Focus  Project Based Learning (PBL) was chosen as an instructional strategy focus for Latimer School.  We believe coupling PBL with the extensive use of technology to enhance learning, creates active, engaged, real-world relevance and learning for students.  Teachers are able to incorporate Common Core standards into projects, allowing students to learn in an integrated manner.   Visit  to view the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math. Beginning in the 2017/2018 school year we will extend our STEAM focus by offering Project Lead the Way coursework for grades 4 - 8.  Our new building will feature a fully equipped Science Lab and flexible space that we will utilize for this purpose.

Parental Involvement  Research shows that parental involvement is one of the most important indicators of school success, and we invite you to be our partners as we educate your children. Opportunities include Home & School Club, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, Copy Room, Classroom Help, Room Parent, Library Aide, Field Trip Chaperone, Volunteer Yard Duty, and much more!

Open House We are very proud of our school – our wonderful students, a tremendously supportive community, a dedicated staff, and, of course, exceptional teachers, and invite you to see this firsthand.  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 18, 2017 at 6:00.  On that evening we hold our annual Open House where student work will be showcased.  You are welcome to bring your incoming students to this event.
