About Latimer

Welcome to Latimer School, one of seven schools in the Moreland School District. Latimer reopened as a neighborhood school in August 2014, after undergoing a complete renovation, and we are able to serve 550 TK – 8th grade students.

School Vision Statement  Latimer School will provide an exemplary educational experience for children in a caring, innovative learning environment where all members of the school community engage fully, collaborate productively, communicate effectively, and think critically and creatively.

Instructional Focus  Project Based Learning (PBL) was chosen as an instructional strategy focus for Latimer School.  We believe coupling PBL with the extensive use of technology to enhance learning, creates active, engaged, real-world relevance and learning for students.  Teachers are able to incorporate Common Core standards into projects, allowing students to learn in an integrated manner.   Visit http://www.cde.ca.gov/re/cc/  to view the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year we extended our STEAM focus for all grade levels.  Our middle school building features a fully equipped Science Lab and Maker Space that we will utilize for this purpose.

Parental Involvement  Research shows that parental involvement is one of the most important indicators of school success, and we invite you to be our partners as we educate your children. Opportunities include Home & School Club, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, Copy Room, Classroom Help, Room Parent, Library Aide, Field Trip Chaperone, Volunteer Yard Duty, and much more!
