About Latimer

Welcome to Latimer School, one of seven schools in the Moreland School District. Latimer reopened as a neighborhood school in August 2014, after undergoing a complete renovation, and we are able to serve 550 TK – 8th grade students.

School Vision Statement

Latimer School will provide an exemplary educational experience for children in a caring, innovative learning environment where all members of the school community engage fully, collaborate productively, communicate effectively, and think critically and creatively. We prioritize fostering a sense of belonging throughout our community, ensuring that each student's voice is heard and respected.

Instructional Focus

At Latimer, our instructional focus is rooted in preparing every TK–8 student for future success by cultivating a learning environment where they feel connected, valued, and inspired to achieve. Through the integration of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies and the Project Lead The Way STEM program, we empower students to take ownership of their learning, think critically, and collaborate effectively.

AVID provides a strong foundation for developing student agency, with an emphasis on inquiry, organization, and academic mindset. Project Lead The Way enriches this work by engaging students in hands-on, real-world STEM experiences that promote problem-solving and innovation. Together, these programs support our commitment to building a college- and career-going culture, where students begin to envision their future pathways and develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue them.

Parental Involvement

Research shows that parental involvement is one of the most important indicators of school success, and we invite you to be our partners as we educate your children. Opportunities include Home & School Club, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, Copy Room, Classroom Help, Room Parent, Library Aide, Field Trip Chaperone, Volunteer Yard Duty, and much more!
