For the LOVE of Reading

Now that we are in the month of February, we are excited to start celebrating LOVE...our love of reading that is!  In lieu of a traditional read-a-thon, Latimer is hosting our first ever “I Heart Reading Day” on February 14! During the whole month of February, your student can collect and turn in flat-rate pledges or donate a book to their classroom to sponsor our “love” of reading! All money received from our Read-A-Thon will be used to purchase books for our classroom libraries!  To really celebrate our love of reading students will participate in a number of special literacy events on Friday, February 14, (which is also Valentine’s Day!) Special activities will include a visit from professional authors (sponsored by Hicklebees Bookstore), a reader’s theatre performance for elementary students, and other fun activities. Our “I Heart Reading Day” will also be a Pajama Spirit Day so we can be nice and cozy for all of that reading. Pledge sheets and more information on how you can pre-purchase a book by our guest authors is in the electronic Wednesday envelope!
