We are very excited that your child will be joining our kindergarten community at Latimer!
To properly balance classes, all schools consider the following factors: age, readiness skills, behavior, and maturity. This information will enable us to create well-balanced classes. In order to do this successfully for Kindergarten, it is beneficial to meet with all students prior to the start of school. We look forward to meeting our youngest Latimer Lion cubs for the first time during Kinder Group Screenings.
At the group screenings, the Latimer Kindergarten Team will meet with groups of children to assess some of the social and academic skills expected of incoming Kindergarten students. Parents will meet with our principal, Nancy Cisler, and our assistant principal, Heather Scharer where they will have a chance to ask questions and get to know each other. Since we have limited time, the results of the evaluation will not be discussed. If there are serious concerns about your child’s readiness for school, you will be contacted. The group screenings will be held in our Media Center on the Latimer campus on Friday, August 16th. We will have 3 screening sessions.

Please fill out the enclosed questionnaire and bring it with you to the group screening on August 16th. If you’d prefer, you can complete the questionnaire online by visiting: http://bit.ly/2ZPkJd1. Also, we like to be able to match students’ names with their faces on the first day of school. For this reason, we ask that you attach a recent photo of your child to the questionnaire that we can keep. (If you complete the questionnaire online just bring your student’s picture with you the day of the screening.) This photo will not be returned to you.
