Project Cornerstone’s ABC Reader Program

(ABC = Asset Building Champion)

What is an ABC Reader?

ABC Reader is Project Cornerstone’s literature-based program with 6,092 parent volunteers reading to 65,207 youth at 215 Silicon Valley schools.

ABC Readers are parent volunteers that visit classrooms each month to read a selected book followed by a discussion and activity centered around important life skills such as:

  • Empathy
  • Confidence
  • Peaceful Conflict Resolution
  • Integrity
  • Acceptance
  • Tolerance
  • Perseverance

All students, from our kindergarteners to our 5th graders, are read the same monthly book resonating a single message school-wide.  This creates a common language and set of expectations that lead to a more caring, positive school climate.
